A Ski Slope Proposal at Diamond Peak - Justin & Hayley | Incline Village, Lake Tahoe

Some proposals go exactly as planned. And then there are the ones where the mountain has other ideas and the result is somehow even better.

Justin reached out to me earlier this winter with a vision: propose to Hayley higher up on Diamond Peak, wide open views, Lake Tahoe spread out below in that impossible shade of deep blue. Perfect setup. Then the snowpack pulled back early and the original spot was gone.

When the Plan Changes, You Adapt

This is exactly why it helps to have a photographer who knows the terrain. We decided to move lower on the hill, found a run with a clear sightline over the lake and enough quiet to make the moment feel private, even on a ski mountain. Sometimes the backup plan wins.

On Skis, All the Way Down

After the proposal we did a short portrait session right at the spot and then lower on the mountain, skis on, Tahoe behind them. Relaxed, natural, completely them. Not a bad way to celebrate.

Why Diamond Peak

Smaller and less crowded than Northstar or Heavenly, Diamond Peak in Incline Village is one of the best-kept secrets for a Lake Tahoe proposal. The lake-facing runs offer unobstructed views of the Sierra Nevada, and the relaxed atmosphere gives you the room to find a quiet moment. It's also just a genuinely beautiful place to photograph.
